Working Nurse l WorkingNurse.com 17 January 25-February 22, 2021 REVOLUTION 7 Wa ys to Build Healthier Teams in 2021 ✻ 2020 was the Year of the Nurse. It also proved to be the most stressful and disruptive year in most of our lifetimes. With the COVID-19 pandemic, civil unrest, and devastating fires thrown into the mix, California nurses were challenged more than ever. When COVID-19 hit, healthcare teams were called upon to save the world, and they did. They made it through the first wave, but the battle had just begun. It looks like 2021 may be just as challenging as 2020. While the world nurses workers as heroes, the ongoing crisis has brought worries about their physical, mental and emotional health. All these external stressors caused many nurses to react in ways that were not healthy. We saw an uptick in dis- ruptive behaviors, fighting within teams and a major surge in burnout. ➤ By Renee Thompson RN, DNP, CSP
