16 and up, whether beginner or intermediate level, to try their hand at the diverse arts these reputed masters are teaching. The price is right: $25 for two hours and $40 for four hours. Kasprzyk's enthusiasm about the 44th Season of Art-A-Fair does not end there. "The juried art of our 125 international, national, and local artists promises to inspire and bring forth passion," she said. "Walk among the artists as they create their fine art in oil, watercolor, acrylic, drawing, photography, digital art, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, glass, and wood." Live music entertains Thursdays through Saturdays. Enjoy fine dining and award-winning margaritas at Tivoli Too!" Likewise a juried show, Festival of Arts is the longest running of the outdoor art fairs in Laguna Beach as well as in all of California, with its artists hailing exclusively from the coastal cities of Orange County. Celebrating its 78th Season, the world-famed fest was voted by the Travel Channel as this year's "Best Arts Festival," one that co-mingles art displays, jazz performances, fashion shows, and wine and chocolate tastings. Bringing together a colony of artists, a panoply of art media, and a mix of multi-generational art lovers, the Festival of Arts is more than an event: it's a Southern California institution, a time-honored tradition that art fans relish because it never ceases to be relevant. Beyond the impressive pieces of art, a big part of the lure of Festival of Arts is the Pageant of the Masters, which blossoms from its grounds. One of the contemporary world's most notable displays of tableaux vivants, or "living pictures," the Pageant attracts over 100,000 visitors annually, its tickets typically – like last year -- selling out. The twist of this performance art is that instead of well-known paintings or sculptures depicting people, people depict well-known paintings and sculptures. The theme of the works selected for this year's Pageant is "Eat, Drink and Be Merry," a timeless motto that resonates with a society that refuses to let the current state of affairs trump its joie de vivre. The production is, in a word, astounding. With live narration, a professional orchestra, and unexpected bursts of singing and dancing revving up the performance for those who need more than a breathtaking visual, the Pageant is a one-of- a-kind spectacle that no summer traveler nor even resident of, Southern California should miss. With three acclaimed art festivals simultaneously splashing Laguna Beach with waves of color and creativity this summer, don't miss the chance to wash away the chaos of daily life by immersing yourself in a sparkling sea of art.
