BITS & PIECES www.postmagazine.com 8 POST SEPT/OCT 2020 DOORS, DOGS & MORE FROM PRO SOUND EFFECTS NEW YORK CITY — Doors is a collection of 125 sound effects curated from the private collection of Academy Award-winner Richard King (Dunkirk, Inception). Available through Pro Sound Effects, the collection is suitable for any type of project and can help set the tone for scenes, with colorful and clean recordings. The collection offers a wide variety of door types — from squeaky wooden kitchen doors to heavy Dublin castle doors. Sounds were recorded from different perspectives and at various speeds and intensities. The collection includes distinctive glass sliding doors, French doors, metal refrigerator doors and more, for both practical use and layering in sound design. Each sound file is embedded with rich, descriptive metadata that helps with fast, intuitive search results, increasing efficiency. The collection is provided as 24-bit/48kHz broadcast .wav files with descriptive embedded metadata. Elements are 100 percent royalty-free and can be purchased at the Pro Sound Effects Website (https://shop.prosoundeffects.com) for $19. Colossal, from Pro Sound Effects, includes massive trailer sound effects that were designed by feature film sound editors Joseph Fraioli and Randy Torres, who both recently worked on Christopher Nolan's Tenet. The collection spans more than 550 sounds and 151 files, all presented in 24-bit/48kHz resolution. Priced at $99, the collection features modern, high-energy impacts, whooshes and transitions that are designed to cut through the mix. Descriptive metadata will help sound editors find exactly what they need. The Canines collection includes 648 files representing 11GBs of sound effects, all designed to amplify dog scenes or to be manipulated to create unique sounds. Ten different dog breeds were recorded, including Golden Retrievers, Corgis, Black Labs, Bulldogs, German Shepherds and Terriers. Recordists Chris Diebold and Tobias Poppe captured sound elements in 24-bit/192kHz resolu- tion from four different microphone perspectives using gear that included the Sanken CO-100K. Elements range from panting, barking and sniffing to running, eating, drinking and chomping. The collection is priced at $179. For more Audio Tools, turn to our feature on page 24.
