BITS & PIECES www.postmagazine.com 6 POST SEPT/OCT 2020 ACCUSONUS PLUG-INS SIMPLIFY SOUND CLEAN-UP ATHENS, GREECE — Accusonus' new Era 5 bundle is a set of fast audio clean- up solutions for video and audio creators. Version 5 adds several new plug-ins to enhance and repair low-quality audio, and makes improvements to all of the existing Era plug-ins. Era 5 tools are designed to greatly reduce time-consuming audio repair tasks by allowing users to achieve high-quality results with just the twist of a dial. The Standard bundle includes nine plug-ins, three of which (Voice AutoEQ, Voice Deepener, Audio Cleanup Assistant) are brand new. The Noise Remover, Reverb Remover, Voice Leveler, De-Clipper, De-Esser and Plosive Remover plug-ins have all been improved. Voice AutoEQ automates the audio equalization process and helps users instantly fix muddy recordings, helping to make a voice track stand out in the mix. Voice Deepener is designed to add warmth and depth to voice record- ings. And Audio Clean-Up Assistant makes audio workflows faster by hosting and adding preset chains of the ERA single-dial plug-ins. A Pro bundle adds Noise Remover Pro, Reverb Remover Pro, Room Tone Match and De-Esser Pro plug-ins. Accusonus (https://accusonus.com) offers several payment options, includ- ing annual prepaid and monthly. The Standard bundle is $14.99/month, while the Pro bundle is $39.99/month. AUDIFIED RELEASES VOCALMINT COMPRESSOR PLUG-IN BRNO, CZECH REPUBLIC — Audified, the developer of software applications, software effects and hardware processors, has released VocalMint Compressor, adding to its recent- ly-launched plug-in line of professional voice tools. The release provides an intuitive user interface with just one-knob that serves as a multi-stage compressor. Users will be able to master VocalMint Compressor very quickly. The tool not only com- presses a track once, but runs it through its virtual signal chain to tune multiple parameters of the voice. The plug-in itself comprises three different, intelligently-tuned compressors, including a special analog-like stage based on an exact model of a real valve circuit. Smash, Valve and Multi-Band combine to provide powerful processing that can sort out all kinds of problems typically associated with the human voice. The third compression stage subtly delivers EQ shaping attributes, as does the exact valve circuit model. Such shaping has been consciously pre-tuned by Audified. VocalMint Compressor's plug-in menu can be opened to reveal additional controls, such as a zoom option or dBU/dBFS calibration. Acting as an operation point setting for the compressors themselves, the latter influences the amplitude at which compression starts to become more substantial. Set at 0.0 dBFS, the plug-in will apply less compression than when calibrated at -24.0 dBFS, say. The factory default setting is -9.0 dBFS. The plug-in is available (https://shop.audified.com) for $79.00 and can be directly downloaded as an AAX, AU, VST2, VST3 64-bit native plug-in for MacOS (10.9 and above) and an AAX, VST2, VST3 32- and 64-bit native plug-in for Windows (7, 8 and 10). Tim Kvasnosky, executive creative director at Butter Music + Sound LA (www. gimmebutter.com), has been working from his home studio during the COVID crisis. He relies on Focal (www.focal.com) SM9 mains and CMS40 mids for monitoring, along with a set of Auratone speakers. The SM9 is composed of a three-way monitor and a two-way monitor, while the CMS40 is a compact unit with an extended bass frequency ratio.
