Dear Members, Well, here we are five months later and still in the thick of this pandemic. You would think there was nothing to keep the office busy with no one working, but that is far from the truth. We continue to work as we have for these last months on a way forward for the industry. First the White Paper was written by all the Locals to go to the governors of New York and California. Next we completed the dostume department protocols. Now we are still in negotiations with the AMPTP to implement those procedures. However, with the new surge in COVID-19 cases, the progress is slow. Most companies have begun pre-production or are hoping to do so in the next few weeks. We are hopeful that most production will resume in early fall. During this "down" time, the Guild has been very busy with the fast track implementation of our diversity work, an increased number of education classes, our pay equity research, and an expansion of our empowerment program. I am very excited by the work that is being done by the committees. Comic-Con was canceled this year but thanks to our Committee Chair Garnet Filo, an amazing group of virtual panels were held. Our newest committee, led by Christopher Lawrence, has reached out several times to every retiree. They have been provided with resources to help them through this difficult time. It seems I spend most of my days on Zoom but I am very grateful for the technology that allows us the flexibility to still be efficient while working from home. I have had more contact from members during this time and I have been happy to be able to assist them. If you are going back to work in the next few months, be sure to contact the office to report your work, send the details to Brigitta at bromanov@cdgia.com. We also want you to be sure to ask the production company to supply you with their COVID safety protocols and send them to me at rstanley@cdgia.com. We have emailed our costume department protocols for you to share with production. These are what we recognize as the standard at this time.
