NOT SURE WHEN I MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIND ANOTHER, GIVEN THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC SHUTDOWNS. AM I ELIGIBLE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT? YOUR GUILD QUESTIONS, ANSWERED ONE AT A TIME T he short answer is, probably. The longer answer is, the process may be more complicated, and take more time to result in benefits, than you were expecting. But those benefits could very well help you navigate your way through these dark times. The crux of the system is W2 tax status. Most Guild members are W2 employees who are paid directly by a studio, or through a payroll company, such as Entertainment Part- ners. W2 employees have their taxes withheld by employers and are therefore eligible for unemployment. That withholding includes money that goes toward future unemployment benefits that you might apply for.
