I recommend a minimum of 10 days between first contact with the agent and the mandatory need for the recording. Once you have the first session under your belt and all parties involved have experienced the process, subsequent sessions can turn around much faster. Build in some room in the schedule for mistakes, and always get a safety take. I hope this information helps your wheels of imagination and innovation turn. Know that it is possible to capture fine ADR and loop group recordings remotely when there is no better option. There are many markets where actors can find themselves when ADR is needed, but no up-to-par recording facilities are available. Hauling in an ADR trailer would bring pro capabilities, but can be cost-prohibitive depending on the volume of material needed. Therefore, after we return to some semblance of what we used to know as our business, I see these techniques as a way to supplement the process when best-case options are not available. Go forth and innovate! Here is a hardware package I have sent to regular actors that needed a quality setup for a series: • Apogee MiC Plus USB Cardioid Condenser microphone • Rycote Invision shock mount • Pop filter • Auray RF-C17 Studio Isolation filter • AKG ATH-M50x headphones • Auray RFMS -580 tripod stand —a substantial stand to support it all—don't cheap out Above: Hardware package sent to talent—bar stool optional.
