10 I M PS E . O R G BY BERNARD WEISER MPSE Bridging the Gap BETWEEN ASPIRING PROFESSIONALS AND INDUSTRY EXPERTS W e are proud to be a part of this first edition of MPSE Wavelength and congratulate the MPSE on its continued growth and importance to the sound community. This will be a continuing column, keeping you informed about our organization and our programs. First let me tell you about who we are: The Entertainment Industry Professionals Mentoring Alliance (EIPMA) provides expert guidance to those people seeking meaningful and productive careers in the entertainment industry. We are a coalition of trade groups and professional organizations involved in an array of behind-the-scenes creative, craft, and technology roles that support the magic of movies, television shows, music industry production, games, and other media such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Our goal is to ensure the continued health and progress of our industry by drawing on the deep experience of our members to nurture the next generation of talent. We act as a source for career information and counseling, serving as a conduit between highly accomplished working professionals and those aspiring to follow in their footsteps. We do this by disseminating knowledge about the industry through public panels, school programs, media outreach, and direct mentorship. We believe in diversity and are committed to assisting individuals across all races, creeds, and economic circumstances. Presently, we are redesigning our website to be more easily accessible to students and visitors. We are also introducing a new program in coordination with KMD Productions called Speed Mentoring. This connects students over the web with industry professionals with a short series of One-On-One Advice & Question Sessions which last eight minutes each. Perfect for these times of COVID-19. We look forward to telling you more about EIPMA in the next issue… Please visit our website at: eipma.org BERNARD WEISER Vice President, Motion Picture Sound Editors President, Entertainment Industry Professionals Mentoring Alliance bweiser.eipma@gmail.com Solange Schwalbe MPSE Sync Sound Column/Read the Screen: The Secrets of Foley Cueing Part 1 Solange is a 35-year veteran as a motion picture sound editor and Foley supervisor.
