LMGI COMPASS | Winter 2020 • 65 Jason Wisch All photos by Jason Wisch/LMGI LMGI member Jason Wisch just dropped himself unceremoniously onto my radar. I love that he only recently joined the LMGI and wasted no time using his membership to his advantage. He shared some incredibly beautiful California footage—a spec spot he directed. It was then cut into two different commercials. One spot was sold to Mercedes, and the second, shared on our web-site is being used to great effect by the California Film Commission. We were grateful to include his footage in the teaser for the 2019 LMGI Awards. The shots are so iconic that I wasn't surprised to find that Jason's work in commercials and music videos includes directing, as well as a location scouting—it's all about that eye! He recently produced a California project combining his scouting flair with his filmmaking passion. With a call to a Mercedes contact, he borrowed a car and headed off for an epic road trip. Driving 1,500 miles in seven days with cinematographer Jorel O'Dell, the duo captured timeless slices of Golden State life—the poppies, Death Valley, the ocean, Napa, the mountains, San Francisco, the grasslands, Carmel, San Luis Obispo, returning to the City of Angels. Mercedes liked it so much, it's featured on their social media pages. NEW MEMBER SPOTLIGHT By Lori Balton
