C M Y CM MY CY CMY K BevForce Hot Shot Each month we check in with one BevForce Mover & Shaker to provide you with some behind-the-scenes insight on the job search process, the beverage industry's most innovative companies and the executives who drive them. This month, we chatted with Vanessa Sobers, who was recently named VP of Marketing at Pisco Portón. She was previously Senior Global Brand Director at Hasbro, Inc. TP: How would you define Pisco Portón's culture and what attracted you to it?  VS: I was attracted to Pisco Portón because the culture is entrepreneurial, collaborative and fast-paced. It's a small family business where a premium is placed on integrity. The leadership team has an impressive record of developing global brands. The product is amazing and has great potential to be the next big brand in the spirits category.  TP: What advice would you give to job seekers looking for their next role? VS: There are five philosophies I live by: 1. Be clear about you want, and if you are not sure, know what it is you don't want...Communicate your wants and needs often throughout the search process. 2. Know your market value. 3. Remain open. Opportunities may show up where and when you least expect them. 4. Trust your instincts.  5. Leverage your mentors to prepare and process opportunities.  TP: If you weren't sipping a Pisco Portón cocktail, you would be drinking . . . VS: Champagne—otherwise, I keep it simple with water or tea! 54  /  the tasting panel  /  april 2013
