10 • THE ARTISAN FALL 2019 IATSE Local 892 (Costume Designers Guild) President Salvador Perez was this year's recipient of the prestigious Metropolitan Fashion Excellence Award. The black-tie international audience was entertained by an outstanding opening dance number from Dancing With the Stars and phenomenal original gowns and costumes by competing designers from all over the world. Metropolitan Fashion Week is one of the fastest growing fashion weeks in the United States, with shows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle and soon to be New York. (#MetroFW) GUILD NEWS GUILD NEWS The courtyard and rotunda of L.A. City Hall provided the glamorous setting and fantastic acoustics for the 2019 Metropolitan Fashion Week gala. Winners of its Metropolitan Fashion Awards honoring outstanding achievements in fashion, costume design, ensemble make-up and hair styling in motion pictures and television were celebrated during the 7th Annual Metropolitan Fashion Week closing gala and Fashion Awards on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Metropolitan Fashion Week is the only fashion week that features both fashion and costume designers on epic runways at historic and iconic venues. Christine Devine, Fox 11 News Anchor, and Eduardo Khawam, Metropolitan Fashion Week Founder and President, hosted the event that was attended by more than 1,200 industry VIPs celebrities, costume, and fashion designers. Nominees for Outstanding Ensemble Make-up Artists and Hair Stylists for Motion Pictures and Television included American Horror Story: Apocalypse, Downton Abbey, Fosse/Verdon, A Handmaid's Tale and Star Trek: Discovery. James MacKinnon was on hand to accept the award presented to Star Trek, for his team of Glenn Hetrick, Shauna Llewellyn, and Sandy Sokolowski.
