8 The Costume Designer Fall 2019 BON N I E N I PAR Associate Editor {Boldface Names, In Conversation: Mandi Line, Metropolitan Fashion Awards) Bonnie Nipar joined the Guild in 1997 and works as a Costume Designer for television. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, she was an art student at Carnegie Mellon before moving to Los Angeles and entering the indus- try. A huge fan of The Costume Designer, Associate Editor Nipar loves being involved in all aspects of the magazine. She says, "It's a treat to honor the latest accomplishments of our peers." FOSS (The Peacock, The Maverick, The Suit, & The Scoundrel, Friends Forever) AMAN DA RI LEY (ISW 50th Anniversary) After spending years teach- ing English and history, Gary Foss has turned his hand to his life-long passion for writ- ing. When not composing poetry, working on his own projects, or engaging in his passion for drawing, he can be found reviewing books, art, and contemporary culture on his blog at rootwordssite .wordpress.com/author/garyv- foss and on Twitter @garyvfoss STACY ELLEN RIC H (Boldface Names) IVY THAI DE (Lauren Silvestri) CARLO POGGIOLI (Piero Tosi) Stacy Ellen Rich joined the CDG in 2005 and she is thrilled to be involved with the maga- zine. Her design career began with study in Florence, Italy, and flourished within the sphere of Chicago Theater, which catapulted her into the world of film. The journey has seen her through many amaz- ing experiences in media as varied as film, performance art, and music video. Additionally, Rich's designs have been on vi ew in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City and the Tate Modern in London. It is her pleasure to assist in compiling the fantastic array of accolades earned by our Guild members. Ivy Thaide has been design- ing and creating characters for the entertainment indus- try for over 15 years. As the head of the CDG Education Committee for over 6 years, Thaide has been a driving force for the continuing edu- cation for the members and its IA community. She is also currently the CDG Executive Board Secretary. Carlo Poggioli started as assis- tant designer for Gabriella Pescucci, Piero Tosi, and Ann Roth. He designed costumes for around 40 films and internation- al TV productions such as: Cold Mountain (with Ann Roth), Terry Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm and The Zero Theorem, Neil Burger's Divergent, Paolo Sorrentino's Youth, The Young Pope (both nominated at CDG Awards), and Loro. He is the current president of ASC (Italian Association of Production and Costume Designers). Amanda Riley is a Costume Designer living between Los Angeles and Paris. After FIDM, she took her love of charac- ter and construction to the world of Costume Design. She has been an active mem- ber of the CDG since 2007. Recent projects include work- ing as a part of Laura Jean Shannon's design team for DC's Doompatrol, Stargirl and Tit ans, as well as just wrapping Westworld season 3 as an ACD along side Costume Designer Shay Cunliffe and ACD Jo Kissack Folsom. M I LDRED BRIGNON I (Be Social) Mildred Brignoni is a bilingual Latina storyteller, designer, and filmmaker. After graduat- ing from the University of California Berkeley, Brignoni interned for Paul Tazewell at the Arena Stage Theatre. She was honored to be includ- ed in the best productions of the 1994 season for her Costume Design on Richard Corley's play Dirty Work. Shortly thereafter, she started her career in NYC on HBO's House of Buggin' the first Latino sketch comedy show. She has most recently served as ACD for Costume Designer Mona May on Banana Split, as well as ACD on Marshall for Ruth E. Carter.
