Summer 2019 The Costume Designer 17 On a chic white set dominated by clouds of giant, brilliantly hued balloons, Westfield Century City in partnership with CDGA host- ed style-ish, an intimate conversation with Emmy-nominated black-ish and grown-ish Costume Designer Michelle Cole and actress Yara Shahidi on Wednesday, May 22. A spell- bound crowd turned out to listen to the lively conversation moderated by Nischelle Turner from Entertainment Tonight. Shahidi was delighted to discuss the evolution of her char- acter in costume. Cole explained how she effortlessly combined high and low fashion to create the distinctive look of the "ish" shows. Afterwards, cocktails and nibbles were served in the courtyard, flanked with key looks from both series on mannequins.
