President's Message Kathy Vetter WEA President kvetter@wyoea.org 1 Are You Ready to Become the Change You Wish to See in Your Schools? Join the Wyoming Education Association on our Visionary Leadership Quest to defi ne the future for Wyoming's students! The Wyoming Education Association (WEA) Visionary Leadership Quest will be held at the Casper Hilton Garden Inn starting at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 18th and ending at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 20th. This is your opportunity for a shared learning journey of transformative experiences with fellow WEA members. Bring your passion for our profession and your commitment to student success; we will provide the rest! Learn from veteran teachers and staff members from WEA and the National Education Association (NEA) as they help you sculpt a vision for your profession and support student achievement. This powerful work will help you and your colleagues build your local and grow in power and eff ectiveness to positively impact important challenges facing public education in Wyoming. More than just a training, the Quest will help you determine your "why," change your perceptions of leadership, and allow you time to network with other leaders from around the state. This is a great opportunity to build skills that you can use every day to be more eff ective as an education professional and Association leader! There will be two tracks at the Quest: one for fi rst-time attendees and an advanced track for educators who attended last year or who are already experienced leaders. The fi rst-year curriculum will be based on Michael Gecan's, "Going Public" and features readings from some of the nation's foremost labor organizers. The second-year curriculum will be based on Brene Brown's "Dare to Lead," and will revolve around taking a deep dive into planning for success in your locals. No matter your previous level of involvement in your Association, there's something for everyone at the Quest. Please consider joining us to hone your leadership skills and network with your colleagues at the 2019 Visionary Leadership Quest! WEA will cover all onsite expenses for participating members, including a double occupancy hotel room. Secure your seat at the Quest, visit: http://bit.ly/VLQ2019
