LA QUINTA INN & SUITES OPENS IN SPRINGFIELD, MA The Pioneer Valley Hotel Group (PVHG) has unveiled a 12-story La Quinta Inn & Suites in downtown Springfield, MA at the site of a property it purchased more than two years ago.  The former City Place Inn & Suites, which was located at 711 Dwight Street, underwent significant renovations in the conversion process including the relocation of the entrance, which changed its address to 100 Congress Street. Approximately $4.5 million was incurred in the renovation, which began 12 months ago.  In addition to the rebuilding and refurbishing of all 240 of its guest rooms and suites, and a complete indoor pool and lobby renovation (including the addition of a new breakfast area), the group also installed new windows on floors 2-11 and added the new Mount Tom Ballroom, a 12th floor function room that offers a stunning three-sided view of the surrounding Pioneer Valley.  The Ballroom seats up to 230 for dinners and weddings, and contributes to the site's 7,500 sq. ft. of function space.  The renovation was completed on December 13, 2012, when the new sign and flag were installed at the property. Other amenities include a fitness center and free wireless high-speed internet access.  Pets are welcome at the La Quinta Inn & Suites. 12 B M & T ••• January/February 2013 ••• www.blackmeetingsandtourism.com
