Valerie is the owner and manager of Got–A-Go-Travel & Entertainment, as well as the vice president of TPOC's New York Chapter.  In December, Valerie partnered with the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation (RDRC) with a clothes and toy drive for the Rockaway, New York residents who were impacted by Hurricane Sandy.  The event was held on December 21st and was a huge success!  Way to go Ms. Joseph! Thanks to each TPOC member for their support!  We'd especially like to thank the president, along with their membership coordinators, for helping to increase the overall numbers of our association.  It is normal for each chapter to host a membership drive and this year recognition goes to the Willie Presley, president of the Atlanta Chapter and his board for a job well done.  During the month of December the Atlanta chapter added eight people to their chapter.  I would like to take this time to welcome – Patricia Bailey, A Personal Touch of Elegance; Marcia Biggs, Travel Depot and Tours, LLC; Gloria Donaldson, Travel With Elegance; Suzette Holmes, Sophisticated Travel; Larry P. Holsey, Friends and Family Entertainment; Luegenia (Jean) Moore, Prestige Travel Systems; Nathalie Williamson, Gotta Go Travel; and Maetta Young, Starquest Travel & Custom Cruises. I would also like to welcome John Fontaine, Jadd Fong Travel from Albuquerque, New Mexico. TPOC is steadily moving Forward!!! It BECOME A CERTIFIED TRAVEL AGENT – Have you've ever thought about earning your CTA or CTC designation? Now's the perfect time!  Since 2009 we have made provision for many of you to take the test during the conference, the same will happen in Trinidad and Tobago. We will, however, make one change. If you request me to order a test for you, you must pay a $50.00 registration fee.  The $50.00 will be given back to you at the conference if you actually take the test. In the past many have requested the test without taking it, which cost the association, so to eliminate unnecessary cost; this will be the new procedure. You have seven months to study for the test.  If you are interested, please contact Carol Kirkland of C&C Travel and Tours Inc. at ccwktravel@yaho..- com for more information. Please note in subject box CTA or CTC. Betty Jones B M & T ••• January/February 2013 ••• www.blackmeetingsandtourism.com 11
