Jameson T PHOTO COURTESY OF KILBEGGAN heres no spirit more worthy of the shamrock than Jameson, the bestselling Irish whiskey in the world. Even the bottle is green. Ironically, John Jameson was a Scotsman, but that didnt stop him from establishing his distillery on Bow Street in Dublin in 1780, where he created a blend of column still and pot still whiskies using both malted and unmalted barley. Still adhering to this historic recipe, today Jameson is produced at Pernod Ricards recently renovated $1.5 million dollar Midleton distillery in County Cork. Although other expressions of triple-distilled elixirs now emanate from this Irish whiskey mecca, it is the ubiquitous Jameson 12 Year Old, with its lure of honey-coated apricots and a dusting of heather that inspires Irishmen and others to ask for it by name, a request that accelerates during the months leading up to St. Patricks Day and like the silky inish of Jameson itself, lingers long afterwards. February and March are incredibly important times for all Irish whiskies, but especially for Jameson, notes Paul Di Vito, Brand Director for Jameson USA. Thats why were currently launching the fourth installment of the award-winning John Jameson TV commercials. They have been an important element in bringing the brand to life in a very Jameson way for our consumers and advocates. I really cant express how much positive support and feedback we get on Twitter and Facebook from all the passionate fans around the country when a new ad breaks. march 2013 / the tasting panel / 91
