A Natural Fit The One Bottle, One Tree program is, so to speak, a natural it at Whole Foods Market, Americas irst national certiied organic grocer, founded in 1980 in Austin, Texas. After all, the companys motto is Whole Foods, Whole People, Whole Planet. All 47 stores in Whole Foods Markets Southern Paciic region will boast One Bottle, One Tree displays for Earth Month this year. The One Bottle, One Tree program resonates well with our shoppers, says Roger Fawcett, Whole Food Markets Southern Paciic Assistant Specialty Coordinator. One of Whole Foods Markets core values is caring about our communities and our environment, and this program helps us bring this to life for our customers. Whole Foods Market was introduced to the Trinity Oaks portfolio in 2009 by Andrew Carrison, Trinchero Family Estates Regional Manager for Nevada, while Fawcett was the stores Arizona and Nevada wine and beer buyer, based in Las Vegas. We were shown a Chardonnay, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Merlot, a Pinot Grigio and a Pinot Noir, recalls Fawcett. We liked all the wines . . . until we were shown the pricethen we loved the wines! I remember smiling and thinking, I cant believe we just found a Pinot Noir that drinks this good for only $6.99 to $7.99 retail per bottle. Its hard to ind a Pinot Noir under $10 and even harder to ind one that drinks well under $15. And the best part? They had enough Pinot Noir to supply all the Whole Foods Market stores in Arizona and Nevada. The One Bottle, One Tree program is the trimming on the value-driven tree for Whole Foods. This program helps shoppers feel good about their purchase, knowing that for every bottle of Trinity Oaks wine purchased from Whole Foods Market a tree will be planted, says Fawcett. Our Southern Paciic region alone planted 11,820 trees between March and May of 2012, and we hope to help plant many more this year. Green Commitment The One Bottle, One Tree program is not the only way that Trinity Oaks helps keep planet Earth healthy. In line with Trinchero Family Estates ongoing sustainable practices, all Trinity Oaks labels, case cards, bottle neckers and sell sheets are all made from 100% recycled post-consumer material, while the lightweight bottle glass and corrugated shippers are recyclable. Additionally, the Nomacorc closures used to seal Trinity Oaks bottles are also recyclable and have a smaller carbon footprint than many other closures. Almost obsessive recycling, sustainable farming and other environmentally-friendly measures form a way of life at Trinchero Family Estates, efforts that have won the company the Green Business Award from Napa County for eight consecutive years. With over 9,000 acres of vineyards, we feel a responsibility to the land and have sought to set a standard in environmental stewardship, says Roger Trinchero, Principal, Vice Chairman and CEO of Trinchero Family Estates, Thats why we endeavor to use sustainable farming practices in our vineyards, and incorporate sustainable practices into the business whenever possible or practical. Recycling is also a comprehensive effort at Trinchero Family Estates. Every departmentincluding our tasting rooms, shipping and receiving centers and our corporate oficesparticipates in our program, adds Trinchero. We recycle everythingpackaging, shipping materials, paper, plastic, glass, aluminum and tin. If it can be recycled, we do it. With the Trinity Oaks One Bottle, One Tree program and a company ethos thats practically DNA-encoded for environmental awareness, Trinchero Family Estates is taking the lead in drinking green.
