Growing Green THE ONE BOTTLE, ONE TREE PROGRAM PUTS TRINITY OAKS IN THE ECOLOGICAL VANGUARD F PHOTO COURTESY OF WHOLE FOODS MARKET or more and more consumers, environmental awareness is no longer just a trendy catch phrase, its a lifestyleand one that drives everyday purchase decisions. With Earth Day 2013 coming up on April 22, followed closely by Arbor Day on April 26, one California wine brand is poised yet again to make these holidays the occasion for responsible drinking, that is also ecologically responsible. The signature One Bottle, One Tree program was created for the Trinity Oaks line of wines by familyowned, Napa Valley-based Trinchero Family Estates in 2008 as yet another way for this green pioneer producer to engage consumers, while giving back to the Earth. At latest count, the program has helped plant approximately 8 million trees in partnership with Trees for the Future (see onebottleonetree.com for the current count). The program, the longest-running effort of its kind, continues year-round but takes on special signiicance during Earth Month every April. At a Whole Foods Market store in Southern California, a One Bottle, One Tree display helps promote both the Trinity Oaks brand and ecological responsibility. 106 / the tasting panel / march 2013
