"We are thrilled to showcase our wonderfully refreshed resort to our guests," said Dan Dolan, Director of Sales & Marketing at The Abbey Resort, "Because of the location of our resort – being the only property located with direct access to Geneva Lake – we want to provide an environ- ment for our guests and groups to experience what the lake brings: bright and fresh with a touch of serenity." Michael Lucero, General Manager of the Abbey Resort, hired Milwaukee-based design and architecture group, Kahler Slater. The design firm's goal? To capture the history and legacy of The Abbey Resort, and create a unified look by mixing casual and sophisticat- ed materials that exemplifies the freshness of the lakes that will be inviting to a wide range of guests. The renovations began in April 2018 with the installation of new roofs on all buildings, including Avani Spa, followed by a complete 5,700 sq. ft. redesign of the eight Geneva Lake Meeting Rooms, where new carpet, lighting fixtures, paint scheme, window treatments, wood finishes, Wi-Fi and technology upgrades have been made. Chicago-based Getty Group has been hired to oversee the final round of renovations, which are taking place in the resorts lobby and Porto – the multi-level venue located in the historic A-frame. "As you can imagine, it can be tricky making interior changes to the lobby, which is the busiest place throughout the resort," said Dolan. The new enhancements include tile and carpet flooring, window treatments, paint scheme, seating groupings, and curated art that will be carried throughout the resort.
