STORAGE SOLUTIONS MAR/APR 2018 NAB 2019 | Booth SL6321 Introducing Facilis HUB Shared Storage Next Generation Storage Network with Integrated Cloud Archive PostStorage_v2FINAL.indd 1 3/22/2019 11:26:12 AM figure there continues to be demand for low laten- cy local storage, particularly for smaller facilities, with increased demand for network storage and the strongest growth in cloud storage that enables remote video collaboration projects. The cloud stor- age will be in a combination of private clouds and public cloud infrastructure as the industry gets more comfortable with cloud storage and as cloud storage security is demonstrated. STORAGE FOR ARCHIVING Long-term storage of video content requires inex- pensive storage. However, today archived content is accessed more readily than for older passive archives, often offline in cold storage facilities. For this reason, many archives are now "active archives" that provide lower latency access to archived con- tent. The ultimate storage for these active archives will be on magnetic tape, optical discs and hard disk drives. Although there is still a considerable amount of older video content that has not been digitized, much of the content that will be digitized is either digitized or will be in the next few years. For this reason future archive growth will be driven by ar- chiving of new video content as shown in Figure 5.
