15 B M & T ••• November/December 2018 ••• www.blackmeetingsandtourism.com technology will help make our meeting rooms more immersive and interactive, allowing participants to stay engaged and remain productive longer. For example, when a group comes together for brainstorming, they'll find the MGM studio's tables and chairs to be approximately 1' higher than in a tradi- tional meeting room. This adjustment is because the best collaboration takes place when speaker and recipient are eye to eye. If the speaker is looking down at the group, there will be no collaboration because the human psyche will register to the recipient that they are to receive and not participate in conversation. The simple scientific 1' adjustment with fur- niture, brings all members to eye level, which has proven to promote a collabo- rative environment. MGM Resorts has also brought well- ness into three of their luxury hotels. Stay Well by Delos is the Wellness Certification arm for the green buildings exchange. As this form of wellness, deals with special care for human beings, it specifically has to do with our specialized conference rooms. These rooms have been designed to alternate blue and yel- low lighting. Research tells us that blue lighting is one of the most critical things for mental acuity and alertness. We have an optic nerve in our eye that regulates serotonin and melatonin based on hues. This is why they say it's not good to view your phone or gaming device late at night; the blue screen will keep you awake; as the blue hue suppresses mela- tonin. During the day, you need lighting in the room with a blue hue; however, at night, our bodies need a yellow hue to begin to relax. Yellow lighting tells your body to dispense melatonin, as this is what makes you sleepy. Just like Mother Nature, in the daytime, we see a blue sky for alertness and as evening comes, the sunset displays yellow and orange so we can wind down. These special rooms also have air purification systems, aromather- apy and Well Shield, a coating created by Delos, which kills 99.9% of germs when light is introduced into the room. MGM Resorts knows that innovative companies can't afford to depend on commonplace Convention Center tech- nologies. In order to forge ahead, today's businesses must grab hold of collabora- tion technology that supports the demands of a modern workforce. Stay Well meetings is the answer and they can be found at Las Vegas' Park MGM, MGM Grand and The Mirage. has been totally overhauled and TPOC is offer- ing a great savings for CTA materials and the test itself.
