2004 Spraying the big Actor for the 10th Annual SAG Awards show. FROM ROUGH CONCEPT TO RED CARPET, THE SHOW HAS COME A LONG WAY T o kick off the first televised presentation of the SAG Awards® in 1995, Angela Lansbury took the spotlight on Stage 12 at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and told the assembled audience of actors and performers, "I've been Elizabeth Taylor's sister, Spencer Tracy's mistress, Elvis' mother and a singing teapot. … Tonight is dedicated to the art and craft of acting by the people who should know about it: actors. And remember, you're one, too!" That memorable monologue captured the collegial spirit that has distinguished the SAG Awards as the only televised ceremony dedicated exclusively to honoring performers. This year marks the SAG Awards' 25th anniversary.
