14 • THE ARTISAN FALL 2018 GUILD NEWS GUILD NEWS Day at the Races Every year, an enthusiastic crowd of MPTF supporters and entertainment industry workers, friends and family come together for a fun-filled day at one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world, Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. Thanks to the support of the IATSE, Day at the Races raised $177,993.38! The silent auction was very successful; we raised $17,395.79 (up from $10,275.00 last year). All proceeds from the event benefit MPTF and sustain our safety net of programs and services that are provided to fellow industry members in times of need. Many thanks to Local 706 make-up artist Polly Powers and her husband Howard Grossman for their contribution of box seats at Santa Anita, paddock tours and photos with one of their thoroughbreds in the winner's circle.
