"SAG-AFTRA has changed my life," added Coppock, a mother
of two. "Fair wages and health insurance are the reason that I can
support my family."
Commercials performer Mike Nelson noted that he and Coppock
were part of a growing wave of members getting involved in the fight
for fair pay, benefits and safe sets.
"These are issues that go to the core of what every performer
strives for in their careers: workplace respect and the ability to earn
a fair living," said Nelson.
Another strike action followed on the opposite coast on Nov. 1.
Left, nearly 1,000 members picket outside BBH's Los Angeles offices Sept. 27 on Melrose Ave. Right, New York Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul and
SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President and New York Local President Rebecca Damon at the "bake sale" for BBH on Nov. 1 in New York City.
"In a time when corporations are willing
to devalue people's work and their worth,
SAG-AFTRA and our allies are here to take a
stand. That's why we're here. That's why we're
standing strong. And that's why we're not
giving up."
