Congratulations is more of a psychedelic and experimental album and if MGMt was trying to steer clear of topping their last album, they've succeeded. Not to say Congratulations is all bad because there is some good mixed in with the terrible. "song for Dan treacy" and "Flash Delirium" are all right, but just OK. As a fan of MGMt, "Congratulations" is by no means a must have for your collection. i suggest listening on-line before you spend that money. it is a recession after all! Artist: Jason Castro Album: Jason Castro (Deluxe Version) release Date: 4/13/10 Genre: Pop if you have been waiting to hear more from Jason Castro, the wait is over. Jason's new album, Jason Castro (Deluxe Version) features beautiful well-written songs from beginning to end. With dance friendly, toe tapping, and slow love songs, this CD features something for everyone. standout tracks include, "You Can Always Come Home" and "that's What i'm Here For" but in all, it's filled with greats. His range and angelic voice touch the soul and make the Jason Castro (Deluxe Version) a CD must - have for every lover of enticing music. Jason is far from his American idol days and proves maybe he should have won it after all! title: Pirate radio Genre: Comedy release date: 4/13/10 Back when vinyl was rock's medium, and pop music was banned from radio frequencies, a pirate radio crew anchored their ship off the coast of england and transmitted "rock radio" to millions of U.K. listeners. Based on a real pirate radio station from the 1960s, six crazy Commonwealth deejays and one rebel Yankee deejay (Philip seymour Hoffman), broadcast as if humanity depends on it. Bonus deleted scenes are introduced by director richard Curtis, who gives them unending praise. Well scripted and acted with improv flourishes, this flick radiates comic ingenuity. indeed, it is the funniest and most charming newly released comedy. DVD: the Young Victoria release Date: 4/20/10 Genre: Drama emily Blunt and rupert Friend take the lead in the historical drama the Young Victoria, a depiction of the early life of Queen Victoria during the time when she first assumed the throne of england. the Young Victoria brings us into a beautiful romance between Victoria and Prince Albert and delves into the power she had to deal with at a young age. With its gorgeous costumes and locations, it is easy to see why the Young Victoria has won so many awards. even those who are not fans of historical films, will be drawn into the story of this movie. DVD'S Artist: Cypress Hill Album: rise Up release Date: 4/20/10 Genre: Pop/rap the music on Cypress Hill's newest album "rise Up" could get even the dullest people in the mood to dance. the percussion is exquisite. Paired with the lyrics, it does lose some of its shine. it seems like the majority of the songs are entirely about pot, and if they're not they are mentioned. this album must be a stoner's anthem. it came out just in time for their favorite holiday, too. the vocals from the band are melodic and definitely catchy. the redeeming song is "Carry Me Away" featuring Mike shinoda. the tune is sad and melodic, but is truly beautiful. Artist: Kate Nash Album: My Best Friend is You release Date: 4/19/10 Genre: rock Kate Nash's British pop voice break- out in America was with her catchy song "Merry Happy," which premiered on a target commercial in 2007. since then, she's been moderately known and has just cut her second album, "My Best Friend is You". the album, full of her quirky songs, alternate from bitterly in love to happily in love and everything that's in between. Listening to her can be a strange experience, with songs that have such bitter words, yet sound so happy and upbeat due to the music and her appealing British accent. the music's fast paced tempo will encourage listeners to want to get up and dance to the girl anthem-like songs. Artist: Hole Album: Nobody's Daughter release Date: 4/27/10 Genre: rock As time progresses, most artists adapt their sound to fit the changing times. this is usually referred to as growth. Hole's new release Nobody's Daughter seems to stick to their 1990s sound. it is not disappointing, but rather, it is very comforting that their style and music can still be well received without the pressure to change too much. Although this album has some differences, Love's voice is as beautiful and angry as ever. the vengeful sounds are followed by softer melodies. "For Once in Your Life" particularly stood out upon first listening. Artist: Bullet for My Valentine Album: Fever release Date: 4/27/10 Genre: Hard rock Although, at times the screaming lyrics are difficult to understand and can really get on the nerves, the lyrics that are sung by "Bullet for My Valentine" are exquisite. this third album, entitled FeVer, has been highly anticipated in the metal community, although the band has typically created a dichotomy. People either love them or they absolutely hate them. the album is chock full of several different styles of songs ranging from fast paced head-banging to some slower songs. "Bullet for My Valentine"'s music is evolving, as it should and perhaps the community will be more accepting of this album. After all, the third time is often the charm. title: the Carrie Diaries Author: Candace Bushnell release Date: 4/27/10 Genre: teens Carrie Bradshaw from sex and the City has become an icon for most women in the past decade. the television series was so iconic that it was turned into a movie, which has a sequel coming out this month. Candace Bushnell, the author of the book, must be loving the way her character has taken off. to feed to the love, and perhaps dribble it into the younger generation, Bushnell has published the Carrie Diaries, a book chronicling Carrie's senior year of high school, and all that made her. the book was captivating, with a super exciting ending for any avid "sex and the City" watcher. title: imperfect Birds Author: Anne Lamott Genre: Fiction release date: 4/6/10 this novel is an interesting study in the emotional undercurrents of a family's interactions when a drugged out teenager is in control. the story describes the trials, troubles and revealing episodes of a middle age stay-at-home mom, elizabeth, her NPr writer husband, James, and their lovely and addicted daughter rosie. As rosie parties all over Northern California, the reader gets a clear picture of what goes down in the anarchist world of adolescent drug abuse. Lamott's third installment on a series about rosie, this one can be a source of healing for anyone in a relationship with substances, and people.
