Your WEA at Work A Warm Welcome to Bryce Francois: WEA's New Comm. Support Specialist 2018 WEA Visionary Leadership Quest Bryce Francois was born and raised in Wyoming's capital. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in journalism. During his time in college, he spent two years managing social media accounts, creating videos and developing campaigns for the University of Wyoming Athletic Department. He also spent a semester as a Social Media Specialist with the Education Abroad Office at the University of Wyoming. Bryce found his love for marketing during his freshman year of college when he started to pursue videography. He is bringing his passion for creativity and skills he developed to Greg Herold, WE SE UniServ Director If you want something done, ask a busy person. The originator of this quote is up for debate, but it came up recently in a discussion I had the privilege of having with my good friend, WEA Vice President Grady Hutcherson. Grady and I have shared a lot of thoughts through the years, some of it more valuable than others but almost always focusing on our schools and all that goes with a career in education. Much of our recent discussion focused on the tremendous time demands placed on the staff in our public schools. We mused on how an educator today balances a professional life with their public life, all while trying to maintain a private life. We agreed that, at times, asking our members to do more seems like an unreasonable request, yet we know that these experienced individuals are exactly the people who need to be engaged to help create and maintain our great schools. The simplest answer, we agreed, would be to create and engage more leaders in this effort. To that end then, the Wyoming Education Association is pleased to announce the 2018 WEA Visionary Leadership Quest. This three-day event is scheduled for August 1st thru 3rd in Casper, WY, and will include sessions from local, region, state and NEA presenters. With a strong focus on organizing and an eye towards the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, participants have been identified by current WEA leadership and staff based on demonstrated or perceived leadership skills and the potential to move our efforts forward to create great public schools in Wyoming. Look for your invite soon.
