Spring 2013, "Laboratory Earth: Human Dimensions of Climate Change", a new fully-online, graduatelevel course in the Lab Earth series at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The course is geared toward K-12 science educators and extension educators who have need of addressing climate change among broad, public audiences. Participants will receive transferable graduate credit from the University of NebraskaLincoln. Tuition rates will vary in accordance with residency. Special Education and Regular Education staff (math and reading teachers): 2013 Special Education Conference, Shoreline Conference Center (North Seattle), March 6-8, 2013. This 3-day conference offers 15 full-day, in-depth courses (19.5 contact hours) to choose from, taught by internationally renowned presenters. Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge invites teams of students and their adult advisors to tackle local (K-5), regional (6-8), and global (9-12) environmental problems or issues and ind replicable green solutions. The Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, is accepting applications from nonproit organizations to conduct month-long, community-wide reads between September 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014. The Region VIII Equity Assistance Center in Denver can, upon request, offer technical assistance, professional development and training to K-12 schools, school districts, school boards, Tribal Education Agencies, charter schools and vocational schools in areas relating to race, gender, national origin, second language acquisition, Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) and bullying. http://www.mscd.edu/eac/ 8.
