The shuttle bay is by far our largest single interior set on Stage 11 measuring eighty-three feet by eighty-five feet, it has a practical observation room overlooking the bay floor to an actual height of thirty feet. It houses two full-scale shuttle exteriors and features gigantic doors (visual effects) that can be opened up to space while filming scenes with the force field activated. The shuttles were foam sculpted to produce a mold and then cast in fiberglass by Ghost Light in Sun Valley. They are transported to exterior locations F for practical filming on open trailers. The interior shuttle set on Stage 15 is built on gimbals for rough rides. It has a practical interior cowling to dock with other ships. An environmental simulator and the armory fill out Stage 11, the simulator being the ultimate virtual reality experience. The armory is new this season, so no spoiler pictures. We work with the very talented special effects makeup artist Howard Berger and his team, as well and the equally talented costume designer Joseph Porro to visit aliens on their ships or planets in almost every episode. The Krill are a reoccurring nemesis of the Planetary Union. The Calivon are a superior race that keep specimens of other species in a gigantic zoo like complex, recreating their home planet environment in their display cages. E.
