50 The Costume Designer Spring 2018 Consider joining the Local 892 Young Workers Committee! The Young Workers Committee is one of many IATSE Young Workers Committees that exist all over the country. Inspired by a growing push to engage early career members across North America, the IATSE Young Workers was formed to give these members a greater understanding of what the union does for you, and help develop the responsibilities of leader- ship, while encouraging active participation in IATSE. The Young Workers Committee is targeted at individuals who are focused on creating opportunities to educate, pre- pare, inspire, and support members who are beginning their union careers. We are dedicated to collaboration, community outreach, and volunteerism. We strive to promote partner- ship between all members of 892, other Local Young Workers Committees, and the overall community around us. Hello new member and welcome to Local 892! THE YOUNG WORKERS COMMITTEE Sunday, July 29, 2018 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Costume Designers Guild 3919 Magnolia Blvd. Burbank, California A few examples of some of the committee's past and upcoming events are the blood drive in January, organized by the 892 YWC Committee and the Young Workers Committees of Locals 705 and 695. The committee also organized a private tour of the Motion Picture Television Fund (MPTF) retirement home. Members had the opportunity to ask questions, and learn more about what MPTF is and what it offers. The com- mittee is currently planning private costume tours of local union and custom made houses, as well as a social networking event for all Local members of 892. The committee meets bimonthly.
