www.postmagazine.com 6 POST MARCH 2018 BITS & PIECES TOKYO — Wacom (www.wacom. com) has released the Cintiq Pro 24 pen display, expanding the company's Cintiq Pro high-defini- tion range, which is designed for creative professionals seeking a larger digital canvas and the power to tackle an increasing onslaught of creative applications and programs. The new 24-inch Cintiq Pro pen display joins the previously intro- duced 13- and 16-inch models and will be available in May. The earlier announced 32-inch model is slated for release later this year. The 4K display provides 98 per- cent Adobe RGB color accuracy and a billion colors deliver a true-to-life visual experience. The pen-on-screen experience was also improved. The combination of the new Pro Pen 2 technology (improved pressure sensitivity featuring 8,192 levels), the etched glass surface, the reduction in parallax through optical bonding and the close to zero latency, provide art- ists with precise control and a more natural feeling. Pricing ranges from $1,999 to $2,499. Wacom has also introduced the Cintiq Pro Engine, a compact PC module that converts the Cintiq Pro into a powerful creative studio. Artists can now transform their Cintiq Pro into a powerful Windows 10 workstation with the power to run demanding creative applica- tions and workflows. The modular Cintiq Pro Engine slots into the back of the Cintiq Pro 24, eliminating the space, cable clutter and compatibility issues that often result from using external computers and laptops. Attaching the Cintiq Pro Engine to the Cintiq Pro 24 tranforms the Cintiq Pro 24 into a full Windows 10 creative studio. By adding the Wacom Pro Pen 3D, professionals who rely on 3D anima- tion or sculpting software, or CAD applications, will see an immediate benefit to their workflow. The Cintiq Pro Engine is pow- ered by the Nvidia Quadro P3200. This graphics card is based on the Nvidia Pascal GPU architecture. The Cintiq Pro Engine memory and SSD are exchangeable and upgrad- able, ensuring system flexibility. Given the plug and play nature of the hardware, it's easy to move between Cintiq 32-inch and 24-inch displays while retaining the same computing environment with the Cintiq Pro Engine. Pricing is $3,299 and two versions of Cintiq Pro Engine will be available when released in May 2018. WACOM DEBUTS CINTIQ PRO 24 & CINTIQ PRO ENGINE The Pro 24 (top) and Pro Engine LOS ANGELES — Deluxe's sister VFX companies Iloura and Method have joined forces, unifying under the single brand, Method Studios. With teams across Melbourne, Sydney, Vancouver, Los Angeles, New York, Pune, Chicago and Atlanta, Method offers one of the industry's deepest talent pools. The company works on blockbuster and prestige features, episodics, design, advertising and immersive experiences. "We've been quietly building some- thing new here; bringing together the best of what each studio has devel- oped around the world — whether it's production processes, artistry, sales and marketing, technology or culture," explains Method president and GM Ed Ulbrich. "We're now one of the biggest VFX studios in the world. Our ability to take on larger and more meaningful pieces of big features, to act as sole or co-lead vendor, choose our projects, and produce the stun- ning work these teams are creating doesn't come from one studio or brand alone. It's a combination of the best of everything we have to offer." Iloura brings to Method a 30- year legacy of stand-out VFX and animation. Its team earned a 2016 VFX Emmy for its work on Game of Thrones, and VFX Oscar nomina- tions for Mad Max: Fury Road, and Deepwater Horizon. The studio's key talent includes VFX supervisor Glenn Melenhorst and VFX producer/EP Ineke Majoor in Melbourne, and GM Jeanette Manifold in Sydney. Simon Rosenthal, now Method's head of VFX, Australia, continues his 20-plus- year leadership of the newly-brand- ed teams. The studio's recent work includes Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Bright, Game of Thrones' "Spoils of War" and Thor: Ragnarok. Founded in 1998, Method has grown from a boutique Los Angeles VFX studio to a global powerhouse. Method's experienced group of 30 VFX supervisors and creative leads delivers high-end design, VFX and immersive artistry. Recent features include Thor: Ragnarok, Okja and the VFX-Oscar-nominated Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2. Additional cred- its include Black Panther, Aquaman, A Wrinkle in Time, Ant Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Infinity War, Christopher Robin, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the untitled Deadpool sequel.
