42 KEYFRAME F I N A L N O T E Retta Scott was the first woman to be credited as an animator for her work on Disney's Bambi. That was almost 80 years ago yet women are still underrepresented in animation. In 2012, women made up only 17.7 percent of the Animation Guild. The good news: Now, a quarter of the Guild's members are women, and when we look at the younger demographic, the percentage rises further. There's still much work to be done, but let's celebrate today by acknowledging a few talented women in animation!
