Let's decide on November 6 In Delaware, politics at the state level largely determines how local schools are funded. I n our state, between 60% to 80% of a local school district's funds comes from the state. Most peo- ple think it's the opposite, that most money comes from the district and the rest from the state. Not so. Whom we elect matters That's one reason why we are so involved in General Assembly races. It's important that these elected representatives listen to you, visit you where you work, and come to you and other DSEA mem- bers and leaders for an "on-the- street" view of what our students need today. DSEA-recommended candidates realize that all of us are responsible for student success. They want to invest in classroom priorities that build the foundation for student learning. And they know that we are deeply committed to the success of each child. We thank the hundreds of DSEA members who said "Yes" when their local associations asked them to volunteer their time to interview candidates and then make recommendations about which candidates measure up and are worthy of a DSEA recommen- dation.
