Dustin Halton, Beverage Manager: Fox & Obel Market The foodie's maxim: A proper meal needs its match in the glass. One place to indulge in this duality of life's pleasures is Fox & Obel Market—a gourmet grocery store in down- town Chicago. Known for fine produce, rare spices, cheese and chocolates, Fox & Obel is an independent store with a strong bever- age program. "We're in a high-traffic area," explains Halton. "That's why we can showcase some of the more interesting things in beer, wine and spirits. We still want to offer accessibility and convenience (with recognizable brands), but we like things from smaller producers." Halton points to his inventory, displaying Death's Door products from neighboring Wisconsin—and things from even nearer. Examples: Rye and bourbon from F.E.W. Spirits, located in suburban Evanston (also home of the Women's Christian Temperance Union!). Dustin Halton, Beverage Manager at Fox & Obel. november 2012 / the tasting panel / 133
