90  /  the tasting panel  /  december 2017 FURMINT AMBASSADOR H ungary has assimilated into the U.S. wine world thanks to the diligent work of a team from Vinum Tokaj International. Attila Balla, President of the company, and Eniko" Magyar, Project Director of Wines of Excellence, have launched a Furmint Ambassador series with the goal of directing attention to the variety and the wine, considered to be new taste of the world. While visiting accounts around the country representing the rising popular- ity of the dry Furmint varietal—and also serving as trendsetters in the wine indus- try—the pair were accompanied on their business trip by Károly Kovács, Co-Owner of the Szent Tamás Winery from Tokaj, Hungary, and Tamás Nagy, who oversees the marketing and education at the winery.
