Project UNIFY
Special Olympics Project UNIFY uses sports and education programs to activate young people to develop school communities where all students are agents of change - fostering respect, dignity and advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities.
In 2012, SODE signed up 11 Project UNIFY high schools to launch a program that uses student leadership, sports involvement, whole school engagement and awareness as primary elements of a successful program. The "Spread the Word to End the R-Word" campaign was also conducted in over 45 high schools and middle schools, in addition to the University of Delaware.
