A study model of the Los Angeles Sports Arena by Camille Bratkowski and Alec Contestabile used for spotting purposes when planning the location of the tennis court for the Battle of the Sexes event. Another model by Ms. Bratkowski and Mr. Contestabile, this time of the room at the Bonaventure Hotel. A color rendering of the hair salon mural, drawn in New York by Graphic Designer Scott Purcell. The first period film I designed was a thesis film for an NYU graduate student. It was set in 1968 and shot on location in Texas. I made all the rookie mistakes designing a period film; nearly everything screamed 1968, including the Life magazines strewn about the living room. I'm glad I made those mistakes there because my first professional film was Brokeback Mountain and I didn't want to make them on that project. Since then, I've designed quite a few period films, and I feel like I've developed a good understanding of how to approach them.
