I had lucked into doing some cartoon animation, which somehow led into visual effects, and then found myself designing trick shots on real movies that had real Art Departments and genuine Production Designers. This card featured an event where Nathan Juran spoke about his experiences designing HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY (1941). The film won Mr. Juran his only Oscar ® (though he was nominated again in 1946 for THE RAZOR'S EDGE), in large part because of this stunning set for a Welsh coal-mining town, built on the Fox ranch in the hills of Malibu. Above: The 2010 screening for DEVDAS (2002) brought together Sangita Shresthova, John Muto, Vidhu Vinad Chopra, Nitin Chandrakant Desai and Jack Rajasekar.
