SPRING 2017 | wyoea.org 7 2017 Delegate Assembly The Wyoming Education Association held its 85th annual Delegate Assembly in Casper on April 7-9, 2017. WEA business was conducted over three days, including updates regarding the Early Career Educator (ECE) Campaign, as well as updates regarding interim legislative meetings and recalibration. The PACE live auction, held at the awards banquet, raised $2700 and the silent auction raised $5000. A donation was given to the Wyoming Food For Thought Project on behalf of attendees of the Delegate Assembly. Former WEA staffer Carol Jelaco was in attendance as a WEA-Retired member. Carol was recently elected to serve on the Sweetwater County #1 School Board. The Cottonwood Elementary Choir opened the Delegate Assembly with the singing of the National Anthem and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Natrona County Associate Superintendent of Human Resources Verba Echols addressed the attendees. She spoke of the great partnership the district has with the Natrona County Education Association, and how that relationship with the full-time release local president has created a great collaboration.
