SAGAFTRA.org | Spring 2017 | SAG-AFTRA 57 SCRIPT 2 SCREEN T he Script 2 Screen program is alive and well in south Texas. Fly Me to the Moon by David Rakowiecki is the latest film script presented by the Austin Script 2 Screen team. This unique program was developed by then-Local President Jim Huston in 2008 to highlight the talent and availability of viable film and TV scripts in search of production. The Script 2 Screen series is a live read by professional actors of unproduced film or TV scripts before an industry audience. Scripts are selected from professional writers and/or script festival winners. They are rehearsed, directed and performed before casting directors, producers, directors, potential investors and industry pros for one performance only. Scripts may be sent to trish.avery@sagaftra.org for Script 2 Screen Committee consideration in Austin, Dallas and Houston. In attendance were Local President Kathryn Howell, Local Board member Robert Curè and Monterey Film Commission representative Teresa Del Piero. Del Piero spoke about recent projects in the area and working as a performer in what is often referred to as "the car commercial capital of the world." She also gave insight into resources available to local performers to help them find work throughout the Monterey Area. The San Francisco-Northern California Local hopes to hold similar events throughout the region to bring members together and make the union stronger. SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local member and WEEK-TV shop steward Garry Moore addresses a meeting of Illinois labor leaders and union members at a solidarity rally in support of WEEK/ WHOI Television in Peoria, Illinois, on Nov. 15.
