Clean and fresh from the use of neutral barrel oak aging, with a magnificent creaminess from stirring on the lees. It's an aromatic treat of pineapple cream, with a strike of lemon drop on mid-palate and a multiplex finish that includes chamomile, white grapefruit and orange blossoms. 93 RIBOLI FAMILY WINE ESTATES Cordon 2016 L'Inox Sauvignon Blanc, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara ($24) Veteran Central Coast winemaker Etienne Terlinden crafts his own label, creating this crisp beauty, cold-fermented in stainless steel. Candied pineapple lands on nose and palate with ravishing acidity, and that cut-glass edginess that makes it both modern and akin to an Old World Sancerre in nature. Bright tropical notes carry through to the refined, steely-dry finish. 93 We Believe 2014 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County ($28) A modern "wow" wine: ripe and rich where pear and apple reign; juicy melon rules and it has a mouthwatering effect that works in tandem with a wet stone finish, which firms up its silky restraint. 92 Tangent 2015 Stone Egg Albariño, Paragon Vineyard, Edna Valley ($32) Fermented and aged in concrete eggs, the floral notes fly out of the glass to greet. You can smell—and taste—the seabed, its saltiness atop honeyed melon, Cara Cara orange and dusted white flowers. 92 Domaine de Terra Vecchia 2016 Rosé, Île de Beauté IGP, Corsica, France ($13–S15) A combination of 50% Syrah and 50% Niellucciu (a red Vitis vinifera grape indigenous to Corsica), this delicate, superbly balanced rosé not only exhibits freshly picked raspberries and strawberries, but a brilliant texture that allows one to feel the sheer minerals and softness of rose petals. Pink grapefruit and prickly pear add a memorable touch to the finish. 92 WINEBOW GROUP In each issue, The Tasting Panel's Publisher and Editorial Director Meridith May selects her favorite wines and spirits of the month. Check here for the latest arrivals in our offices, the hottest new brands on the market and an occasional revisited classic. Publisher's Worthy of a smooch. French-style double bizou. Wildly infatuated. Seriously smitten. Head over heels in love. PHOTO: DAVID GADD PICKS
