TRINCHERO On the Saturday evening preceding Fat Tuesday in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, four of our industry peers took on the great responsibility of judging a Mardi Gras–inspired bar crawl cocktail competition. The competing bartend- ers were given one prerequisite—to pull from the Trinchero Family Estates portfolio of spirits. The panel of judges—also plucked from the tree of Trinchero—included the company's Josh Lawrence, Director of Spirits–Southwest; Nicole Gilberts, Purveyor of Fine Wine, Heritage Collection; Michael Blaise Kelly, Regional Manager; and for a bit of outside perspective, James Stephenson, Executive Chef/Operations Manager, Cohn Restaurant Group. The small jury—united in the New Orleans–esque courtyard of the Horton Grand Hotel and armed with colorful, plastic beads—devised a rating system and then toasted with the first contend- ing cocktail of the night. Here are the top four finalists in no particular order.
