MEET THE SOMM Stuart Roy S erving as Corporate Director, Wine and Spirits for Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group, Stuart Roy has the ability to bring new dimensions to the dining experiences of all patrons of one of the country's premiere steakhouse destinations. Established in New York City in 1977, the restaurant's unmistakable green and white inaugu- ral building is still welcoming customers to this day. Since its doors opened, Smith & Wollensky has been a favorite among celebrities, political figures and steak-lovers the world over, with nine locations—Miami Beach, Chicago, Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Columbus, Houston, and two in Boston. Roy began his career as a waiter and captain at The Four Seasons in New York, and over the next 11 years he held similar positions at various restaurants across the country. He then took a position with Southern Wine & Spirits, serving as a Sales Manager for seven years before becoming the Director of Wine and Fine Dining for Caesars Palace. Following his tenure at this Las Vegas icon, Roy became the Nevada State Manager for Beam Global Spirits & Wine.
