87 2016 STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT Special Olympics Delaware's annual State Basketball Team Tournament, sponsored by Farmers Insurance, is a two-day event comprised of Area teams from across the state. The tournament takes place at the University of Delaware Bob Carpenter Center, located on the UD athetic complex in Newark. Thirty-two (32) teams from across the state made up of more than 420 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners competed in round-robin tournaments over the two days. In addition to the full-court team tournament, the event included a basketball skills competition, Young Athletes (children ages 2-7) demonstration, and Olympic Village activities. Employees from Farmers Insurance helped organize the event and filled volunteer roles throughout the day, while high school officials from IAABO Board 11 volunteered as referees for the games. The 2016 recipient of the Dick Nolan Sportsmanship Award was the Wilmington Wizards Steelers. Presenting sponsor 2015-2016
