www.postmagazine.com 13 POST FEBRUARY 2017 SOUND LIBRARY NEWS FEBRUARY 2017 CARROLLTON, TX — Firstcom (www.first- com.com) has partnered with legendary hip hop producer and rapper The D.O.C. to release The D.O.C. presents Red Star, a new album of varying styles. The collection in- cludes tracks such as "Money," which takes on a West Coast vibe, and "Boom Boom," which deals in real low-end Trap, as well as "She Got Attitude." As a writer and producer, The D.O.C. (Tracy Curry) has worked with NWA, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. His own platinum selling album No One Can Do It Better helped shape the direction of hip hop throughout the 1990s. His vision with Red Star is to shine a light on up-and-coming talent in the rap genre and help lead them to high-profile status. "I produce them the same way I'd do Dre, or Snoop, or anybody else," says Curry. "I'll try and tell you how I see it and you'll stay [behind the mic] until it's done. You'll get mad. You'll get tired. You'll get frustrated. I push your buttons until we get it right." Talent on the new release includes Crystal Baby, Dice Pruit and Kosmic Sisters. "The voice is just another instrument. The first thing the performer has to have, for me, is a nice voice," he explains. FIRSTCOM PARTNERS WITH HIP HOP PRODUCER THE D.O.C. NASHVILLE — Warner/Chappell Production Music (www.warnerchappellpm.com), Warner Music Group's production music department, is now licensing the CPM Music Library in the US and Canada. The music department first took ownership of the catalogue in 2010 and has since represented the collection outside of the US and Canada. With the addition of the US and Canada, Warner/Chappell Production Music now represents CPM worldwide. CPM, formerly Carlin Production Music, is comprised of more than 40,000 tracks spanning three series: main series, archive series and classical series. Produced by Warner/Chappell Production Music's own London production team, CPM got its start in 1988 and has grown and gained a steady following based on its wide range of musical genres and high pro- duction standards. The CPM catalogue has been licensed around the globe to clients that include Major League Baseball, Spongebob Squarepants, Dell, Geico, and Armani. "CPM has a long history and contains a wealth of versatile music across every genre imag- inable," says Warner/Chappell production music president & CEO, Randy Wachtler. "We are extremely proud to represent such a well-regarded production music catalogue across the US and Canada, and look forward to building on its already fantastic reputation." WARNER/CHAPPELL NOW EXCLUSIVELY LICENSING CPM'S 40K-TRACK CATALOGUE COPENHAGEN, DENMARK — A Sound Effect (www.asoundeffect.com) is a community-based sound effects online marketplace that's home to a large, curated collection of sound effects created by lead- ing sound designers and recordists from around the world. A SOUND EFFECT: SMALLER, FOCUSED LIBRARIES ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS LOS ANGELES — CSS Music (www.cssmusic.com) has announced the release of its new Rollover Music Download (RMD) plan. Available this month, this new approach to royalty free subscriptions will address what the company refers to as one of the most often sited "flaws" in plans that use reoccurring monthly credit card charges, the loss of all remaining downloads at the end of each monthly billing cycle. This third CSS bulk download or sub- scription plan will let subscribers keep all remaining downloads at the beginning of a new billing cycle while still adding a fresh batch to the balance. "We think our customers shouldn't have to give up anything to subscribe to our library," says CSS marketing director Mike Fuller. "This new plan recognizes the fact that our clients don't always have constant activity, especially when they're in pre-pro- duction. Now they will be able to 'bank' their unused downloads and actually build up their balance over time to accommodate larger projects when they occur." Licensing for the new CSS Music subscription plan is exactly the same the company's single track downloads. CSS MUSIC LAUNCHES NEW ROLLOVER SUBSCRIPTION PLAN
