10 The Costume Designer Winter 2017 Dear Members, Happy New Year! We have finally moved into our beautiful new home in Burbank. We are looking forward to completing our final two projects: signage and landscaping in the first few months of this year. We have already had our first General Membership Meeting in our new building and a spectacular holiday party. The members have been very excited about all the opportunities the new space offers. The Retirement Committee is busy with plans for movie nights and the Education Committee has a full schedule of classes and seminars that will avail the use of our new state-of-the-art facili- ties. The office staff couldn't be happier with the new office space and location. We are also busy working on upgrading our office procedures. We are adding a new database and hope to upgrade the website in the next year. I am happy to report that work is plentiful and members are once again busy, both on location and here at home. On the political front, we are watching the early days of the new administration and keep- ing an eye on the state of healthcare in this country. Although we have a first-class heathcare system offered to our members that work sufficient hours, many still find that from time to time, they need to revert to affordable healthcare offered through the government. It is our hope that the new administration will be cautious with the inevitable revamp of the ACA (Affordable Care Act). We are still actively pursuing tax incentives in the state of California and are busy meeting with new state officials to ensure that what we have fought so hard to gain is not lost, but improved upon. I look forward to a busy and productive year and wish all our members a happy and prosperous new year, and would like to remind you that we are here to serve you.
