The series stars Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, and R.H. Thomson, with Niki Caro directing the premiere two-hour episode. Dixon fi nds it exciting and thrilling designing this realistic, dark, gutsy version of Anne of Green Gables. While she visually loves the gritty red earth, it permeates everything. How to keep those hems of skirts and petti- coats with red dust in continuity while they shoot the rest in Toronto you ask? She heartily packed a bucket of red earth from PEI in her distressing kit. Produced by Paramount Pictures/Anonymous Content and executive producer Selena Gomez, with Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Brian Yorkey helming the ship as both writer and executive producer. Academy Award winner Tom McCarthy is directing and executive producing the show, starring Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, Kate Walsh, and Brian d'Arcy James. Based on the best-selling novel by Jay Asher, it follows teenager Clay Jensen in his quest to uncover the story behind his classmate and crush Hannah's decision to end her own life.
