s relentless speed is now a hard stan-
dard and the need to sculpt as we il-
lustrate increases, we evolve from artists
to technicians. The concept of speedball
friction on coarse sketchbook paper is a
sweet and distant memory. I am happy
to have experienced the cycle and can't
wait to see what the next decade brings.

A
s an illustrator, the joy of
working with the gloriously
talented Lou Eyrich to bring
her vision to life on the page
is a gift. Kathy Bates'
costume needed to inspire
not only the design of the
garment but a ghostly char-
acter, aged, incorporating
layer upon layer of distressed
fabric and texture in multiple
muted tones. I treasure using
every tool I have as an illus-
trator. Both technology and
the timeless skill of pen to
paper continue to inform my
working relationships.
