The new release offers powerful updates for procedural modeling, retopology, render- ing and more. The final release in the Modo 10 Series, Version 10.2 offers a completely revamped MeshFusion, making it easier to cut, combine and intersect geometry. Creating quad meshes at any density is now automatic, removing the need for manual cleaning. Procedural modeling has been enhanced. Users now have the ability to package, share and reuse assembly aliases. Slicing, drilling, cloning and duplicating tools have also been added/updated, bringing more production standards into the procedural modeling workflow. Deformations and mesh op- erations can now be cached and held in memory, so artists working on complex animations can scrub the timeline significantly faster. The Preview Renderer and Advanced Viewport have received significant performance improvements, while the new ability to use arbitrary meshes as light sources offers a new lighting workflow that can easily rep- resent difficult shapes, such as filament bulbs. Modo 10.2 is now avail- able for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, and is a free update for Modo 10 Series customers. New users can purchase an individ- ual license for $1,799 or upgrade from a previous edition for $499. ATTO SHIPS THUNDERLINK WITH THUNDERBOLT 3, 40GBE AMHERST, NY— ATTO Technology, Inc. ATTO's ThunderLink devices feature proprietary Advanced Data Streaming (ADSTM) technology for smooth data transfers, eliminating dropped frames and providing consistent time-to-data for high-performance applications or mobile workstation users. The new ThunderLink devices, and all Thunderbolt 3 enabled products, use a USB-C connector, which will ease connectivity to a wider variety of platforms. PIPELINEFX RELEASES QUBE! 6.9 LOS ANGELES — PipelineFX (www.pipelinefx.com) has released Qube! 6.9, the latest update to its popular render farm management software for visual effects. Expanding on previous cloud tools, the Qube! metered licensing su- pervisor now comes standard with V.6.9. Also included is support for Katana and Redshift, increasing Qube!'s supported software count to 23. Announced in July, metered licensing is the first pay-per-minute option for render farm management that doesn't require studios to pre-pay first. Originally available upon request, metered licensing is now built into Qube! as the default supervisor, allowing studios to burst beyond their paid (perpetual and subscription) licenses whenever they need it. Paid licenses will always be used first, so added costs never occur until everything has been exhausted. Additional Qube! 6.9 features include ArtistView GUI improvements, Autodesk 2017 support, direct Katana submissions, and new Cluster Priorities. Customers currently on maintenance and support can download Version 6.9 im- mediately from the PipelineFX FTP site. Monthly subscription licenses are $15.
