BACK TO SCHOOL | WEAnews 26 Announcements Teacher Recognition Program Arch Coal kicked off its signature Teacher Achievement Awards Program today across Wyoming. Now entering its 17th year, it is the longest-running, privately sponsored teacher recognition program in the state. "Arch Coal continues to support quality education for our students through its unique teacher recognition program that recognizes classroom teaching excellence," said Keith Williams, president of Arch's Western operations "Again this year, we will recognize 10 exemplary teachers who challenge their students and raise the bar on academic achievement across the state." Each teacher receives a $3,500 personal cash award as well as widespread recognition. Teacher nominations may be made online at archteacherawards.com or obtained at schools, libraries and Taco John's locations throughout the state. Nominations will close Jan. 9, 2017, and recipients will be named in the spring. "Our program is unique because the public makes the nominations and a blue-ribbon panel of past recipients makes the selections," Williams explained. "Each nominated teacher receives an in-depth application packet that must be completed for review." The Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Awards is being supported again this year in program promotion by the Office of the Governor, Wyoming Department of Education, the Wyoming Library Community, the Wyoming Education Association, and Taco John's. U.S.-based Arch Coal, Inc. is a top coal producer for the global steel and power generation industries, serving customers worldwide. Its network of large-scale, low-cost mining complexes spans every major coal basin in the nation.
